1.1 PRINCIPLES OF THE MALAYSIAN LEGAL SYSTEM
1.1.1 DEFINITION OF LAW
Law is the body of enacted or customary rules recognized by a
community as a binding (Oxford English Dictionary).
The system of rules which a particular country or community
recognizes as regulating the actions of its members and which it
may enforce by the imposition of penalties.
"Law is a binding custom or practice of a community; a rule or
mode of conduct or action that is prescribed or formally
recognized as binding by a supreme controlling authority or is
made obligatory by a sanction (as an edict, decree, rescript,
order, ordinance, statute, resolution, rule, judicial decision, or
usage) made, recognized, or enforced by the controlling
authority." (The Third New International Dictionary from
Merriam-Webster).
