Politeknik Kota Bharu began operations in 1985 in a temporary campus at Sekolah Menengah Teknik Pasir Mas, Bunut Susu, Kelantan.
Politeknik Kota Bharu has moved to its permanent campus in 1988 in Kok Lanas, Ketereh.
At its inception, the number of students is 400 people with 44 lecturers.
PKB now has 3593 students and 393 academic staffs and 120 non-academic staffs.
