FLUID MECHANICS

                     CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION OF FLUID

                 1.0 INTRODUCTION OF FLUID

Fluid mechanics is a branch of physics concerned with fluid mechanics and forces

acting on them. Mechanical, civil, chemical, and biological engineering, geophysics,

oceanography, meteorology, astrophysics, and biology are just a few of the fields
                       where it might be used.

               1.1 FLUID CHARACTERISTIC

Fluid mechanics is a study of the behavior of fluids (liquids or gases) either at rest

or in motion. The study of fluid at rest is called fluid statics. The study of fluid in
motion, where pressure forces are not considered, it is called kinematics and if the

pressure is considered for the fluid in motion, it is called fluid dynamics. An

understanding of the properties and behavior of fluids is very importance in
engineering. A fluid is a state of matter that yield to sideways or shearing forces.

Liquid and gas are both fluids. Fluid statics is the physics of stationary fluid.
