1.5.1 CIVIL/PUBLIC LAWS
• The law which governs the relationship between individuals
and the state.
• Civil/public law subdivided into two categories:
a. Constitutional Law
✓ Describes the rights of individuals in the state, deals
with matters such as the supremacy of parliament and
the rights of citizens, includes the areas dealing with
state and federal powers.
b. Criminal Law (Penal Law)
✓ Systemizes the law against criminal, Examples:
criminal breach of trust, murder, cheating, theft,
robbery, counterfeiting and serious hurts to other
individuals (Public prosecutors will give punishment
for inflicted crimes in state level).
✓ There must be a ‘wrongful act’ and a ‘guilty mind’ in
order to test the crime offences deals .
✓ It aims at punishing the criminals and suppressing
crime.
