6.9 Burglary Risk
Burglary risk can be defined as crime of illegally entering a building or other
location for the purpose of committing an offense. It involves entering a building or
residence with the intention to commit a crime, and it doesn’t require a piece of
property to be stolen or a person-to-person interaction to occur.

Hire security guards to improve the supervision at the premise especially
in midnight
Purchase burglary insurance to cover the loss incurred
Make sure all the doors locked properly before leaving the premise
Keep the property in the locked safe or strong room to avoid the theft
risk
Installing CCTV and alarm warning systems to alert peoples about the
theft and reduce the casualty loss
Increasing the “surveillability” of the property as a heavy duty lock for
front door
Never leave keys under doormates, flowerpots, mailboxes or other “secret”
hiding places
Get a dog - loud barking sounds can discourage the burglar
Put a sign up and declas on the windows
Trim the bushes and vegetation and move clutter from around the house
so they don’t have anywhere to hide
Keep a light on to make the house look occupied
Have exterior lights and motion sensors so owner have everything
exposed
