1.4 Safety Precautions

Before taking out the instrument from the box, mark the positions of (a) the

object glass, (b) eye-piece (c) clamp and tangent screws so that while keeping
back it can be placed in the box in proper position without any difficulty. Be

careful while handling the instrument.

1.5 Procedures

1.5.1 Temporary adjustment

Temporary adjustments are to be made at each setup of the instrument. The

following are the temporary adjustments to be made.
a. Setting up of the level
b. Levelling up

c. Elimination of parallax.
