Activities
RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE ACTIVITIES
STUDENT REGISTRATION
Registration of residential college students is made each semester depending on the intake of students by the UPU. For new students, room placement is made automatically through the SPMP system (i-Kamsis) after the student pays the residential college fee. During registration, students will get the keys based on the room number in the SPMP system. For senior students, students who are offered a place in a residential college need to make a room reservation in advance in the SPMP system (i-Kamsis) before registering. Reservations are made through the ‘first come, first serve’ method.
STUDENT PROGRAMS
Residential college students will be exposed to various programs and activities to create understanding, cooperation and tolerance among students. Programs such as spirituality and religion are no exception. Here are the student activities that are often implemented:
- PROGRAM ORGANIZED BY FELLOWS AND RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE STUDENT COMMITTEE (JPKK)
- The management of the residential college in collaboration with the Residential College Student Committee (JPKK) will plan and draft few programs for each semester before the new semester begins. Among the programs that are often organized are such as spiritual programs, sports/ recreation, talks/ forums and communal work/ volunteerism programs.
- PROGRAM WITH ACADEMIC DEPARTMENT AND ACADEMIC SUPPORT UNIT
- The student programs also put some steps in collaborating with the Academic Department and the Academic Support Unit of Kota Bharu Polytechnic. Recently, to reduce the burden of students during the pandemic, a food bank project was initiated by the Psychology Unit and few other departments to help residential college students in need. Students in need are identified from time to time.
- INVOLVEMENT PROGRAMS WITH GOVERNMENT AGENCIES
- PKB residential college also carries out activities in collaboration with external agencies. Most common program is the blood donation program organized by Hospital Universiti Sains Kubang Kerian (HUSM) and Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II. Building evacuation training (fire drill) was also held at the residential college joint effort with the Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia to provide exposure to students on rescue procedures in case of fire or another emergency.
MAINTENANCE AND PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE OF FACILITY
Maintenance involves repair work on physical damage performed by the Unit Pembangunan dan Senggaraan PKB. The physicality of a residential college building consists of a residential college office, an inmate block building, a cafeteria, a mosque, and others. Meanwhile, for preventive maintenance works, the supervisor of the residential college will make regular inspections on the equipment of student rooms, cleanliness of the area/ building, and the safety of facilities in the surroundings.
