               INTRODUCTION

o Quantity surveyors are highly trained professional that provide
expert advice on construction projects. Life cycle costing (LCC),

cost planning, procurement and tendering processes, contract
administration, and financial management all rely on them.

o To provide cost and financial guidance, a professional quantity

surveyor has a thorough understanding of construction and
construction procedures, as well as the regulations governing

                        construction projects and accounting.

o In today's construction business, quantity surveyors do a technical

analyses of cost components of a construction project and apply
the findings to a variety of financial and economic issues that

developers and designers face. Competence, in any domain of

work, can be a challenging term to define, especially when it
comes to professional vocations involving varied professionals in

                        the built environment sector.

o Once the commitment to develop the project has been reached,
the Quantity Surveyor advises the client on the best contract

structure as well as the legal contract and terms under which the

                        building will be built.
