2.3.1 SCOPE OF OVERSEAS COVER
The benefits are similar to those of a hospital and surgical insurance
product. Overseas cover would cover the medical treatment and services
up to a predetermined amount as specified in the plan of coverage, which
may be a comprehensive or a standard plan. In a comprehensive plan, it
generally would extend to cover outpatient clinical, with the local network
panel clinics abroad and a co-payment or deductible may also be
applicable, depending on the plan of choice.
The additional benefits would be the benefits of evacuation and
repatriation back to Malaysia, including mortal remains as well as the full
range of travel assistance services.
2.3.2 EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS
The policy exclusions are similar to the local PMI policies in Malaysia
except that at times it may extend to cover certain benefits that may be
considered as necessary in the locality and should not be excluded, for
example, pregnancy.
2.4 FUNDING METHODS AND PRICING ADJUSTMENT
There are various options to be considered in the funding of medical
expenses incurred by the individual, corporate or associations. In the
consideration the decision varies among individual as well as from small to
large group schemes.
