2.2.2 The Architect
❑ The Architect brings into focus the client's requirements on
terms of how the building will be utilized and how it will be
perceived. Then it must be designed to meet the criteria of
the Building Regulations as well as other performance goals,
one of which is frequently sustainability.
❑ The decision to specify a product is influenced by several
factors, some of which are contradictory. The main concern
is that it is fit for purpose, that it fulfils its function well, and
that it does so over the building's design life.
❑ Tools that aid architects in appropriately specifying their work
are essential. BIM objects, technical literature, and
specification documents are examples of such items. Making
it simple for the design team to grasp how the product may be
included into their design and what benefits the client will
receive.
❑ Clients must make certain that the architect fully understands
their needs. The architect must next guarantee that the
client's product satisfies all their requirements, including
functionality, dependability, sustainability, availability,
aesthetics, and value.
