3.4 Procurement Methods
3.4.1 Definition of Procurement Method
❑ Procurement is the process of acquiring something. This
process of getting anything has a variety of ways or methods;
for example, there are several strategies for procuring a
building in the construction industry.
❑ The term procurement refers to the activities of the client or
employer who is responsible for the construction or
refurbishment of a structure. It's a process that answers the
question, "How can I build my project?" (The Joint Contracts
Tribunal ,2012).
❑ In most cases, the procurement process will begin with the
development of the project strategy by the client (typically via
their consultants or design team). The process of weighing a
project's opportunity, risks, and budget limits to determine
which procurement method is best for it.
