Cash refund offers (rebates) are
similar to coupons in that the price is
CASH REFUND OFFERS reduced after the purchase rather
than at the store.
The customer mails a "proof of
purchase" to the manufacturer, who
then mails back a portion of the
purchase price.
Price packs (also known as cents off
bargains) allow customers to save
money on a product's standard price.
The maker immediately marks the
reduced costs on the label or
packaging.
PRICE PACKS Price packs can be single packages
sold at a discount (for example, two
for the price of one), or two related
products packaged together (such as
toothbrush and toothpaste).
Price packs, much more than
coupons, are particularly successful
in boosting short-term sales.
